Hurst, SUVCW Fort Donelson Camp # 62<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">Brothers,<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m forwarding messages from Brother Roger Tenney and from SAR President Rick Hollis concerning the passing of our SUV Brother Jim Hurst.\u00a0 Brother Hurst was the first recruit of the revitalized Fort Donelson Camp # 62, having been brought to the Camp by Brother Tenney.<\/p>\n<p>Brother Hurst and Brother Tenney served as Color Guards at the 2008 ceremony at Franklin\u2019s Rest Haven Cemetery for Gen. Brownlow and Col. Grummond (photo attached).<\/p>\n<p>The Camp Charter and the Camp web site will be draped for the next 30 days in remembrance of Brother Hurst.<\/p>\n<p>He will be sadly missed.<\/p>\n<p>In F., C., &amp; L.,<\/p>\n<p>Sam<\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\"><a name=\"FDC2011-1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"CENTER\">\n<p align=\"CENTER\"><strong>General Order # 1<br \/>\n16 February 2011<br \/>\nDeath of Brother Larry D. Cockerham, SUVCW Fort Donelson Camp # 62<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brothers, it is with deepest sympathy and a heavy heart that I report the death\u00a0 of Brother Larry D. Cockerham, Council Member, SUVCW Fort Donelson Camp # 62. Brother Cockerham passed away on 12 February 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Brother Cockerham also served as Camp Commander of Sons of Confederate Veterans Sam Davis Camp # 1293. As a member of both camps, Brother Cockerham acted as liaison between the\u00a0 Middle Tennessee Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and Sons of\u00a0 Confederate Veterans.<\/p>\n<p>Brother Cockerham is survived by his wife, Darlene, and by his son, Brian.\u00a0 Cards may be sent to his family at 6112 Stillmeadow Drive, Nashville TN\u00a0 37211.<\/p>\n<p>The Camp Charter, the FDC web site, and membership badges will be draped in black for a period of thirty (30) days from the date of this General\u00a0 Order.<\/p>\n<p>Ordered this 16th Day of February, 2011<\/p>\n<p>Sam C. As a charter member of the Camp, he was one of the men with the vision of a dynamic camp, bringing honor to our Civil War forbearers who sacrificed so much to preserve the Union. As a Camp officer, he contributed to the stability of the Camp allowing it to function as a fully-organized entity for some thirteen years to this date.<\/p>\n<p>As we Camp members have the opportunity, let us express our appreciation to Brother Powell for his great service.<\/p>\n<p>Trent D. Johnson has consented to accept the vacated post of Senior Vice Commander.<\/p>\n<p>Brother Johnson is the great-great grandson of Sgt. John Crooks, Co. I, 51st Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Sgt. Crooks was wounded at the Battle of Stones River and again at the Battle of Lookout Mountain.<\/p>\n<p>Effective this date, Trent D. Johnson is Senior Vice Commander, SUVCW Fort Donelson Camp No. 62, Department of Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>Please mark on your calendars and plan to attend the FDC62 meeting at 12 noon on Saturday, 19 April at Dotson\u2019s Restaurant, Franklin, TN.
