SVR Brothers,

Here is the sutler information once again for those of you interested in obtaining uniform items. These sutlers have been suggested as they are reputable and reasonably priced.

There is also the Fall Creek Sutler located in Whitestown, Indiana that has everything you can imagine if you are unable to find it or it is unavailable locally.

For those who wish to obtain arms:

Firearms one of the following: 1861 Springfield Rifle Musket
1863 Springfield Rifle Musket
.577 Cal. Enfield Rifled Musket

Accouterments: Cap Pouch
Cartridge Box
Bayonet
Bayonet Sheath

Keep an eye on the website. Bill Heard has kindly agreed to provide an exhibit of the basic uniform in the near future.

I have ordered a 35 star US flag which I will donate to the unit to get our color guard started. We fully understand the expense involved in obtaining these items and no one is required to be uniformed to be a part of the SVR unit, however those who are interested in representing the organization in a uniformed capacity are invited and encouraged to do so. Uniforms may be worn at Camp meetings and events as well as all special events. In order to give brothers an adequate amount of time to “uniform up” a goal of on or about March 1st (approximately 6 weeks) for our first color guard “dress” drill meeting should be reasonable. As always, your input is appreciated and encouraged. This is OUR unit and OUR involvement is crucial to it’s success.

If you were at our January 10th meeting, you got your SVR membership card. All others will be mailed this week.

As always, if you have questions or comments, you can contact me via e-mailsockettuem@comcast.net

I’ll have a 10th Tennessee e-mail soon and will forward it as soon as it is set up.

Thank you again for your support. We have taken this from an idea to a reality and it could not have been done without YOUR participation and enthusiastic support. The credit for the success of this effort belongs to you!

Yours in F, C & L

Dear Brothers,

I am most gratified by the support we have received in organizing our SVR Unit. In the near future, those of you who have joined will be receiving your membership cards.

I would like to suggest our unit be named for the 10th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry (US) which was organized solely in Middle Tennessee. Regimental facts are as follows:

10th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry

Organized at Nashville, Tenn., May to August, 1862. Attached to Post and District of Nashville, Tenn., Dept. of the Cumberland, to June, 1863. 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, Reserve Corps, Dept. of the Cumberland, to September, 1863. Defenses of Nashville & Northwestern Railroad to January, 1864. 1st Brigade, Defenses of Nashville, Tenn., January, 1864. 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, 12th Army Corps, Dept. of the Cumberland, to April, 1864. 1st Brigade, 4th Division, 20th Army Corps, Dept. of the Cumberland, to April, 1865. 1st Brigade, 4th Division, District of East Tennessee, to June, 1865.

If you have other suggestions, please share them, or let me know you approve of this suggested choice.

If you have not yet joined the Camp 62 SVR and would like to do so, please advise me via e-mail and I will return an application via e-mail. Dues for SVR membership are nominal at $7.00 per year.

Again, I wish to thank those of you who have decided to participate and invite those brothers who may be interested to join our ranks. Should you have any questions concerning the unit, please do not hesitate to contact me.
